Learn SECRETS of COLOR -
Art Camp with Sarah Burns!
This fun and intensive Art Camp introduces 10-11 year old students to deep color and art concepts. The tools and ideas we cover are the same things I teach my adult, professional art students, but the concepts are presented in a way that is appropriate for and accessible to kids.

9:30 - Ice breakers and Draw 3 Drawing Game
9:45 - Slide show that explains the day's key concepts.
10:00 - Snack Break before we start painting.
10:15 - Painting
11:40 - Clean Up
11:50 - Exquisite Corpse Drawing Game
12:00 - Parent Pick-up
Thursday, August 22,12:00 -12:30 - Art Show for Parents
Day 1 - Learn the TRUE primary colors.
Hint! They're not red, yellow and blue!!! Learn key components of color - hue, value and chroma.
PAINT – test it out with paint – everyone gets to make two color wheels. One using RYB as primaries and one with the NEW, accurate, SECRET colors…..
Day 2 - Dive in to the #1 secret to great color - VALUE.
Learn a key cornerstone to art and design.
PAINT- Take a color picture and turn it to a black and white painting, and then back into a color painting.
Day 3 - Get creative with color!
Discover how you can get wild with color in a smart way! Learn how to change the hue and chroma while keeping the value the same.
PAINT - We will do a fun group project, where each student paints a couple pieces of a larger puzzle in their own unique color palette. When everyone is finished we put the puzzle together and reveal the image.

I grew up here in Southern Oregon, where I've been a full time painter and art teacher for almost 20 years. I'm absolutely passionate about art, science and nature! If I'm not at the studio, you'll find me gardening, cooking, sewing and going to the hot springs and the gym.
