How to Think About and Draw Ellipses

Ellipses are circle in perspective. Understanding how ellipses work will help you draw and paint things like vases, fountains, buildings - really any rounded thing you encounter.  

It's also important to know that photographs distort perspective. So if you're going to use a photograph you REALLY MUST understand perspective so you can correct what you see in the photo.
