Traveling to Southern Oregon for a Workshop?

Most of my workshops are held in the heart of Talent, Oregon, a charming small town with great food and coffee within walking distance of my studio. Southern Oregon has several walkable small towns with shopping and dining, and the area is known for a ton of natural beauty. There are SO many great places to hike and explore.

Project Space 106 Talent Ave. #5 Talent, Oregon 97540

Getting Here:
If you are driving to the workshop, Talent is located about 25 miles from the California border along Interstate 5.

If you are flying, fly into Medford International Airport, MFR - about 10 miles from my studio.

It’s very helpful to have a car while you are in Southern Oregon.  However, depending on the timing, you can take the RVTD bus from the Medford Airport to Talent and Ashland. The bus will take you right to my art studio.

Lodging:
Neuman Group Hotels - beautiful, convenient and comfortable. The closest choice for Talent, Oregon is the Lithia Springs Resort, just three miles from Project Space, the primary workshop location.

Talent does not have any hotels in town, but there are in-town options on Airbnb.

Ashland is about 7 miles away from Talent and has great hotels in walkable parts of town. There are great shops and restaurants, parks, hiking trails, live theatre and more.  If you'd like to stay in Ashland there are many great options.

Stratford Inn - A cozy spot near downtown with mountain views.

Columbia Hotel – Central downtown Ashland, affordable option with a very artsy vibe.

Food and Drink:

In Talent -

CafĂ© Soleil – one block from Project Space, great coffee, lunch, breakfast. The friendliest coffee shop ANYWHERE.

Pumphouse – decent burgers and tacos. Next door to the studio. Fire pits for cold weather.

Sweet Beet Station – GREAT lunch and breakfast. Sit inside or a great outdoor garden seating.

Art Bop – Talent, Oregon’s first brewery! A cozy mom ‘n’ pop brewery with regularly scheduled live music and community art events. Feel free to bring in outside food to enjoy with a pint.

 In Phoenix -

Clyde’s Corner – Amazing pizza, salads and great location with outdoor/indoor seating

Charm Thai – Hands down, Southern Oregon’s best Thai food.

Loncheria Las Reyes Food Truck – great tacos and cantina, really nice outdoor seating.

 In Ashland -

Ashland Food Co-op – Deliciously healthy ready-made food options. Also the spot for groceries in general. A real local fav.

Harana Cafe – Excellently handcrafted cocktails and rich Filipino dishes, served in a very  cool but laid back location downtown.

Dobra Tea – Enter another world with Dobra's vast selection of teas, traditionally brewed. Also highlighted on the menu, savory rice bowls and adorable tea cookies.

Hiking
Google these hikes or look them up on All Trails so you get the most accurate directions and info.

Mount Ashland – the Pacific Crest trail runs through Mount Ashland. It’s an easy section, fairly level, insanely beautiful views all around and some of the best wildflowers in Southern Oregon.

Grizzly Peak – A moderate hike with sweeping views of the valley and far beyond. This loop has a new microclimate around every corner that keeps every minute on the trail fresh and exciting.

Lithia Park, Ashland - Start at the Plaza and hike up to the reservoir. There are many trails to explore. Both wild land and cultivated park, including a small Japanese Garden, pickleball courts and two duck ponds. Take a cold plunge if you wish in the reservoir at the top of the park.

The Artist's Attic – Phoenix
Wide selection of art supplies, the closest retailer to the studio

Central Art Supply – Medford
Rogue Valley’s most extensive art supply retailer.
